Taliban shadow governor, military commission chief killed in Urozgan: MoD

Taliban shadow governor for Daikundi province and the group Chief of Military Commission were killed in Urozgan province in south of Afghanistan, Afghan Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday.

According to a statement released by the MoD the Taliban shadow governor for Daikundi province and the group Military Commission Chief for Urozgan province were killed while another three militants were also wounded in the Afghan security forces artillery attack over Chora district of Urozgan.

The statement named the insurgent military chief as Asadullah who is also known as Mullah Shekib.

At the same time in a separate statement MoD announced that it has killed at least 10 militants in an air attack over a Taliban gathering in Baghlan province.  

The Taliban group has yet to make a comment about the incidents.

Urozgan is among the volatile provinces in south of Afghanistan, tribally linked with Kandahar province – where the group emerged and is widely fighting against the Afghan security forces and its US-led allies since its establishment in 1994.
