U.S. Vice President Michael Pence said Saturday that the attacks against Syria and Afghanistan, which U.S. President Donald Trump authorized, mark the restoration of American power.

“When the world saw our President’s strength and resolve in the actions he took in Syria and Afghanistan, the credibility of American power was restored,” Pence said while addressing a gathering for Trump’s first 100 days in office.

During April, the U.S. forces conducted a cruise missile strike on Syrian military airfield and dropped ‘Mother of All Bombs’ against Islamic State militants in Achin district of Nangarhar province.

He added that Daesh is on the run in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan.

“Thanks to President Donald Trump, ISIS is on the run in Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan; and we will not rest until we’ve destroyed ISIS once and for all,” Pence emphasized.

Recently, U.S. based newspaper, the Military Times reported that the Pentagon is considering up to 5,000 additional troops for Afghanistan.

Based on the report, the White House could reach its decision in coming weeks and announce any intended strategy shift at the NATO security summit scheduled for May 25 in Brussels.
