Turkey Says Will Continue to Support Afghan Security Forces

President Ghani Met with Turkey’s Defense Minister Hulusi Akar on the sidelines of Munich Security Conference on Friday and discussed mutual security cooperation and combat against terrorism.

Presidential Palace in a statement said that Minister Akar said that Turkey will continue to cooperate with the Afghan government, especially in training the Afghan National Police.

On his part, President Ghani thanked Turkey for its support to Afghanistan over the years and said that regional cooperation is the “antidote” to the growing threat of terrorism.

Ghani is Germany to participate at Munich Security Conference (MSC) which will kick off from February 15-17.

More than 35 heads of government and heads of state, as well as 50 foreign and 30 defense Ministers, are expected to be present.

The U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, and Chancellor Angela Merkel will also attend the conference to discuss growing global instability.
