At least seven people were killed and more than 15 others were wounded as a result of two separate suicide bombings early Wednesday morning in capital Kabul, officials said.

The first attack occurred in the 3rd precinct of Kabul near the Kabul University when a suicide bomber in a corolla car detonated his explosives by hitting an Afghan National Army (ANA) vehicle, said General Ayub Salangi, deputy interior minister.

He added seven people, Army and civilians, were killed in the first blast and 15 others were wounded.

According to security sources, the second blast took place in Deh Sabz locality of Kabul in which another ANA vehicle was targeted. The sources have not yet commented on the death toll from the second blast but the witnesses said about three people were injured.

The Taliban in a statement have claimed responsibility for the attack.

The twine blasts came a day after Afghanistan and the United States of America signed the long-delayed security agreement, giving a legal framework to the international troops’ continued presence in the country.
