US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson praised India’s cooperation with Afghanistan and called for the country’s more role in Afghanistan’s stability and peace.

Rex Tillerson also praised India’s strategic footprints in Afghanistan and thanked India for its “generous contribution” to construction of Salma Dam and Afghan Parliament.

India refused to send troops to Afghanistan but at various multilateral forums as well as their bilateral meetings, it repeated the commitment for training Afghan security personnel and helping in reconstruction of Afghanistan.

New Delhi also wants countries to address what it thinks is the primary source of instability in Afghanistan — the safe havens for terrorists in Pakistan.

In the meantime, the Ministry of Economic considered India’s great role remarkable in economic cooperation.

“India is one of the fifth biggest donors of Afghanistan and implemented many big regional projects such as Salma dam,” said Sohrab Bahman, spokesman of the Ministry of Economic.

Under the framework of “New Development Partnership” that takes forward India’s 16-year-long economic and capacity-building assistance programme  India will keep providing aid in the “fields of health, agriculture, drinking water supply, education, renewable energy, infrastructure development, skill development and capacity building” and will “further contribute to Afghanistan’s reconstruction, economic development and effective governance.
