UAE stops visa to Afghans

The United Arab Emirates has stopped issuing visas to Afghanistan nationals until their electronic ID cards confirm by the Afghan foreign ministry.

Urging the government to solve this problem, a number of Afghan businessmen criticized this action, claiming they face many problems.

“Getting a visa is very time-consuming for us, UAE is the first country that take this action against Afghans,” Muhammad Muhsen Amiri, Afghan businessman said.

Younis Wayar, another businessman said, “The decision of UAE is very alarming and problematic for us. This is an insult to our government and our identity.”

Meanwhile, Passport department is said to consider UAE’s decision contrary to international law, saying a recomandation is submitted to Security Council to solve this problem.

“UAE’s decision is outrage to Afghanistan national document. The passports we distribute are equal to world standards.” Muhammad Omar Saboor, head of Passport department said.

This is the first time that Afghan residents face such challenge to get a visa from UAE.
