UN Blacklists Pakistani Taliban’s Splinter Group Jamaat-ul-Ahrar

The United Nations Security Council on Friday added Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JuA), a splinter group of banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) group in its sanctions list.  

The UN said the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar associated with ISIL and operates from Nangarhar province of Afghanistan and Afghan – Pakistan border region including Mohmand Agency.  

The UN added the individuals and entities in its sanctions lists subject to the assets freeze, travel ban and armed embargo.

Jamaat-ul-Ahra, the splinter group of Pakistani Taliban was formed  in Mohmand Agency of Pakistan in August 2014. The group was banned by Pakistan in November 21th of 2016.
