UN considers SOM summit successful for Afghan government
United Nations special envoy is said to consider the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) summit effective, adding unlike previous summits, the senior officials have discussed more on Afghanistan demands and needs.
Nicholas Haysem, UN special representative for Afghanistan has also considered the SOM summit essential for Afghanistan.
Haysem noted that the UN will continue assistance to Afghanistan after the year 2016.
According to UN special envoy, the international community assistances will continue with the given modification and completion of Afghan government and people’s demands.
“The Afghan government has the right to receive information about international community aids that there will be a change in people’s lives. I thing the SOM summit was successful for all parties; for Afghanistan and also for the international community.
In the meantime, the finance ministry claims that the government was able to convince the international community in SOM summit.
The ministry says that Afghanistan’s action against previous commitments was positive and new and serious efforts will continue for fulfilling the commitments.
“Afghanistan and the international community have been agreed on new issues up to the next year that the Afghan government must implement them before the Brussels summit. The SOM summit was successful for all parties.” Aklil Ahmad Hakimi, finance minister said.
This comes as the international community has expressed satisfactory from composition of the cabinet, women’s role in government offices and transparency in contracts and also considered an important development for Afghanistan.
