UN demands Afghan gov’t to announce election timeline

United Nations Organization Special envoy for Afghanistan has demanded the Afghan Government to determine the date for the Parliamentary and council district Election, after visiting Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani saying $ 10 million dollar was allocated from the Government budget for the Election expenditure.

Afghanistan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani said,” we are working on financial and security of the parliamentary Election.”

The demand comes after that according to the needs of the Election commissions $100 million is needed for the expenditure of the Election, if the Afghan security forces are being supported by the air and ground, there $ 60 million dollar is needed.”

President Spokesman Mohammad Haron Chakhansuri said,” Both National Unity Government leaders have visited the United Nation special envoy for Afghanistan and some other International partners, during the session all the diplomatic agencies and United Nations have announced their support for holding the Parliamentary Election in Afghanistan.”

Afghanistan has two months ahead to launch necessary reformation on Election system in the country before to attend the Brussels summit.

Head of the Fair and free Election foundation Yousuf Rasheed said,” Symbolic efforts won’t resolve any problems in Afghanistan Election system, Government should accelerate efforts on reformation of the Election.”

Afghan International relation expert Sayed Shekib Muntaziri said,” the ultimatum of the World for Afghanistan is to launch reformation on Election to continue to their financial supports, if the following International demand doesn’t meet, Afghan leaders will come back empty handed from Brussels summit.”

One of the preconditions of the National Unity Government was Election reformation, but later it seemed that the following Government has taken it granted and no efforts made.
