Political activists of uprising for change movement have submitted ‘interim government’ proposal to the United Nations office in Kabul as alternative to the National Unity Government (NUG).

According to the proposal, the current government leaders should be sidelined from power and an interim administration should be formed for six months to make way for holding a transparent elections.

Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the political activists said to move was taken after  the government has shown no will to hold elections.

“They [NUG leaders] only talk about elections, not referring to Afghanistan’s constitution,” Barna Salehi, one of the political activists said.

Shewa Sharq, the other political activist of the movement said that the ‘interim government’ proposal has gained 60 percent satisfaction of the UN’s representative office in Afghanistan.

In response, Chief Executive office said the government is committed to holding the upcoming parliamentary and presidential elections and transfer the power in a peaceful manner.

The office Spokesman Mujib Rahman Rahimi warned that seeking options as alternative for the current government will increase tensions and challenges in the country. But is this ‘interim government’ plan has legal causes and not violating the constitution?

“This plan could be efficient in Afghanistan and can be legitimate from legal perspective  because the current government has been formed against the constitution,” said Wahidullah Farzaye, a member of Afghan Lawyers Union.

In part of the submitted proposal of uprising for change movement, it has been pointed out that the president of  interim government can also participate in election as nominee and the people who hold power in that government should be neutral in political interactions.
