Urban Development, Housing Minister Steps Down

Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi the Minister of Urban Development and Housing along with four of his deputies stepped down from their positions on Wednesday.

Speaking at a news conference, Naderi confirmed that their resignation have been approved by President Ashraf Ghani.

He cited health issues as the main reason behind his decision to step down.

According to minister Naderi, he has changed the ministry into an efficient and successful institution during his tenure.

Naderi assumed charge of the position in early 2014 after receiving the most votes among the minister-designates introduced to the Lower House of the Parliament.

At the same time, the government has appointed Roshan Wolesmal as caretaker of the ministry.

Recently, President Ashraf Ghani dismissed energy and water minister Ali Ahmad Osmani by issuing a decree.

Abdullah Abdullah the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government (NUG) reacted at President Ghani’s decision, saying Mr. Osmani will remain as energy and water minister and the issue will be resolved in line with the agreement for the formation of the power-sharing government.
