US honors tireless work of Afghan women and girls to secure their rights: West
US Special Representative for Afghanistan Thomas West in a post on the occasion of International Women’s Day has said that the United States honors the tireless work and courage of Afghan women and girls to secure their rights.
“Today, International Women’s Day, we honor the tireless work & courage of Afghan women & girls to secure their rights – to be educated at all levels, to work & support their families, & to participate in public life,” West said on X. “These are matters of stability for Afghanistan & the region.”
US special envoy for Afghan women, Rina Amiri, also said that the United States honors the “extraordinary courage of Afghan women and girls as they defend their rights against the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s (IEA) edicts.
“If the world doesn’t stand up in support of Afghan women, we put in peril women’s rights everywhere,” she added.
This comes as IEA has suspended girls’ education beyond sixth grade of school.
