A top US General, Raymond Odierno in a press conference in Pentagon said that America must always stand by Afghanistan and help the country to achieve peace and stability.

The senior US military General praised Afghan Security Forces, saying Mullah Omar’s death has led the future of Taliban group into deterioration.

“We must still help Afghan Security Forces and cooperate to facilitate Afghan-Pakistan talks,” Gen. Raymond Odierno said.

He stressed that America never abandon Afghanistan and hopes Pakistan also maintain a better relation with Afghanistan.

Afghanistan–United States relations can be traced to 1921 but the first contact between the two occurred further back in 1830s when the first recorded person from the United States was visiting Afghanistan.

In the last decade, Afghan-American relations have become stronger than ever before.

Afghanistan and the United States have a very strong and friendly strategic partnership. In 2012, relations became even closer when the President of the United States, Barack Obama declared Afghanistan a Major non-NATO ally.
