The department of state of America has once again announced support from Afghanistan reconciliation process.

US department of state says that the armed Taliban group should join the peace process or it will be eliminated by Afghan security forces.

“Washington supports peace talks led by the Afghan government and considers it the surest way for bringing peace to the country and the region,” said John Kirby, spokesman of US department of state.

Simultaneously with preparations of the four countries; US, China, Afghanistan and Pakistan for holding the third round of quartet meeting in Islamabad, the Afghanistan High Peace Council announces of an unofficial meeting in Qatar.

“A number of characters have been invited to this meeting which will be held by Pagwash organization. But now the quartet meeting between the four nations is the official position of the government,” said Ismail Qasemyar, international relations adviser of HPC.

However, a number of Parliament members criticized the High Peace Council function.

“The High Peace Council had no achievements so far and the government itself should enter to talks with Taliban,” said Ghulam Hussain Naseri, representative of Wardak.

The second round of the Quadrilateral Cooperation Group (QCG) meeting on Afghan peace talks was held on Monday in Kabul.

The group comprising representatives from Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and the United States discussed a roadmap for the reconciliation process involving the Afghan government and Taliban.

The third round of talks is expected to be held in Islamabad which is drawing up a road map for further peaceful dialogue between Kabul and the Taliban.
