The United States has taken back which gave nine rotary-wing helicopters to Pakistan’s Interior Ministry for anti-terror and recon operations at Pak-Afghan border in the year 2002, sources said.

The choppers had been used during the Balochistan operation and different anti-narcotics operations, according to sources.

Reports suggest that U.S. has taken back the choppers after Pakistan failed to secure an agreement to further retain them.

Afghan military analysts say the retaking of choppers from Pakistan shows the U.S. commitment to its new strategy toward Afghanistan.

“The choppers contracts were expired recently. The U.S. refused to renew the contracts and this reflects the decisiveness of the United States against Pakistan,” said Asadullah Nadim, Afghan military analyst.

Another analyst, Atmar calls on U.S. to take more and serious steps against Pakistan over the elimination of terrorist groups.

US President Donald Trump had slammed Pakistan for its continued support to terrorist groups and warned Islamabad of consequences if it continues to do so while announcing his Afghan and South Asia policy in August.
