US Urges Pakistan To Cooperate With Afghanistan To Counter Terrorism

The United States have raised its concerns to the highest level of the government of Pakistan to deny safe haven to extremists in its soil and avoid its distinction of good and bad terrorists, the U.S. Department of State said.

After the attack on the American University of Afghanistan (AUAF) in Kabul, the Afghan President issued a statement that the attack was organized and orchestrated from Pakistan and urged Islamabad to take action against those who were behind this attack. Now the U.S. Department of State encourages the two countries to increase cooperation to counter terrorism.

” We have consistently raised our concerns to the highest level of the Government of Pakistan on the need to deny safe haven to extremists. We have pressed the Government of Pakistan to follow up on their expressed commitment, their stated commitment, to not discriminate among terror groups regardless of their agenda or affiliation, Elizabeth Trudeau the Director of Press Office for U.S. State Department said to reporters on Thursday.

Trudeau emphasized that the attack against the best and brightest of Afghanistan is a sign that we should do more to combat terrorism and therefore urged Afghanistan and Pakistan to increase cooperation against the terrorism and violence.

” We can’t comment on the responsibility for the attack. As we have in the past, we encourage the governments of Afghanistan and Pakistan to work together, not only in the wake of this attack and to ensure that such attacks don’t happen again, but to increase their cooperation countering violent extremism writ large,” Trudeau said.

The attack over an education center in Afghanistan is the first in its kind, but the Afghan officials have always claimed that they have enough documents to prove the attacks are organized and orchestrated from Pakistan by terrorists sponsored by its intelligence agency.
