Second Vice President Sarwar Danish on Thursday apologized to the people over the government’s failure to ensure security in the country.

Introducing Yama Yari as Acting Minister for Ministry of Public Works, Danish stressed that killings of civilians in Mirza Olang of Sar-i-Pul was a war crime. The government will take “revenge” of the Afghans’ massacre in the province.

Danish said that the insurgent groups are not “capable” of facing Afghan security forces in the battlefield, therefore targeting civilians as part of their new tactic.

“We are facing lot of issues in terms of security,” Danish said. “We apologize to Afghans of not ensuring security of some regions,” he added.

VP Danish called on Afghan politicians to address terrorists’ crimes against humanity instead of provoking people against the government.

He also said the government will take the “revenge” of massacre in Sar-i-Pul.

The Second Vice President’s warning comes after the insurgent groups have killed nearly 60 civilians and kidnapped dozens more, following a “brutal” attack in Mirza olang area of Sayad district.
