WB Signs 250 $ Million Contract with Afghanistan on Road

Officials in Ministry of Finance have stated that World Bank has signed 250 $ million contract with Afghanistan on reconstruction of roads specially the roads along the Hindokosh mountain.

Officials in Ministry of Finance have stated that the following money has been given as gratuitous to Afghanistan by the World Bank and officials in Ministry of rehabilitation and development to spend some of the money to reconstruct Salang roads.

Minister of public interest Mohamood Balegh said,” in the following contract there are two construction projects one is to reconstruct Bamyan-Doshi 152 Kilo meter the second one will reconstruct 82 kilo meter roads for Salang Highway.”

Minister of Finance has appreciated World Bank financial aids to reconstruct Afghanistan’s roads.

Since Afghanistan is a mountainous country and 90 % of goods are being transferred and carried through lands therefore we do need standard roads for smooth business Minister of Finance Iklil Hakimi said.

The following two projects which are the construction of roads and highways in Afghanistan will be implemented through Ministry of public interests in coming 7 years.

Reconstruction of Salang Pass is vital to Afghanistan which connects Northern parts to South part and the following road will lead even to central Asia and other parts of the world.
