The National Unity Government (NUG) demand the 5th paragraph of article 4th to be deleted but it faced the opposition of some Parliament members.

The anti-money laundering law and proceeds of crimes first was approved by the National Council but the NUG called for removing the 5th paragraph of article 4.

“If the 5th paragraph removes; it means that the representatives hide 13 years on looting public assets,” Muhammad Abda, representative of Balkh said.

The anti-money laundering law criminalizes money laundering and provides for specific measures to detect and deter money laundering and to facilitate the investigation and prosecution of money laundering offences.

After much of talks, the law went to the voting round and finally the suggestion of government rejected.
