Women’s Rights Advocates Demanded 9 Female Governors

Women must have a representative in the high court and at least nine governors in the country, women political rights advocacy group emphasized.

Women’s Political Rights Advocacy Group would like to assume management and leadership positions in the National Unity Government of Afghanistan.

A group of women’s rights activists were gathered on Monday asking the rights which the power sharing leaders have promised during their electoral campaigns.

“Now, it is the time that the National Unity Government leaders must seriously practice all commitments they have made for women participation in various sectors of the government, and at least they must allocate nine provincial governmental chairs for women,” during the discussions Arzela Barakzai, a member of the group declared.

In addition, the activists were optimistic about four women whom could make ministerial positions in the cabinet.

Qadrya Yazdan Parast a member of the group asked the government to organize the elections and bring the required fundamental reforms in electoral system, said:  “Elections must be held on time, because delays will damage people’s trust to elections and democracy.”

Women’s Political Rights Advocacy Group will provide a number of recommendations to the presidential palace office to help easy women political participation in Afghanistan.
