Zahra Burned Body Buried after 24 Days of Advocacy in Kabul

The advocators of Zahra have stated that she was living in an area in Ghor province along her husband family members, one day she was asked to go field for incising of the poppy but she refused to do so, there her the dark side of her life started, Zahra was beaten by her husband while she was 4 months pregnant.

The advocators of Zahra in Kabul has been capable to have the Afghan Government arrested her father-in-law, and mother-in-law after 24 days.

They have urged that the father –in-law and mother –in-law of Zahra after beating her for the second time splash petrol on her body and burned her, she was at Ghor Hospital for 2 days and then she was carried to Kabul in Istiqlal Hospital where she passed away due to severe burns.

The advocators for Zahra have also urged that after days of efforts we have received positive responds related to her case, where the perpetrators of the case and the case will be pursued in Kabul and the execution will take place in the public eye here in Kabul city.

Women rights activist Weda Saghari said,” We have been capable to receive extraordinary decree to take her case to Kabul and to be trialed here in Kabul.”

There is old tradition in Ghor when a baby girl is born then the scholars and tribal leaders are nominating her to boy in the belonging villages.

Zahra Father Mohammad Azam said,” I have complained several times about beating my daughter to different Governmental departments in Ghor, no one heard my voice, there is an old tradition in Ghor when a baby girl is born then the scholars and tribal leaders are nominating her to boy in the belonging villages.”

In the past 24 days 13 Women were killed at the entire country, where 4 cases have taken place in Ghor province.
