At least seven civilians were killed on Tuesday when a vehicle ran over a roadside bomb in northern Afghanistan’s Parwan province.

“The vehicle of a family that was riding to a wedding ceremony in struck the bomb and all seven people from the family died,” said Ahmad Lemar Osmanyar, Parwan’s district chief.

Officials said that the investigations are underway. No one immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

Roadside bombs have been a weapon of choice for Taliban insurgents for many years, and are often used to target officials and members of the security forces but also kill many civilians.
