Abdul Rashid Rashid appointed as chief justice

According to President Ashraf Ghani’s decree, Abdul Rashid Rashid has been appointed as new chief justice on Thursday.

The presidential palace has said that President Ashraf Ghani accepted the resignation of former chief justice Abdul Salam Azimi.

Rashid Rashid was born in Baghlan province of Afghanistan. For further education he went to America and has studied in Gorge Washington University.

The reason for Azimi’s resignations as chief of justice is not clear so far. But earlier, president Ghani has accused judicial institutions for being involved in the corruption.

President Ashraf Ghani Ahmad Zai also awarded Azimi with the highest government medal, Ghazi Amanullah Khan.

Ghani hailed Mr. Azimi for his active role in maintaining and implementation of justice and law in the country.
