Afghan Forces Recaptured Faryab’s Ghormach District

Afghan security forces, led by Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum, the first vice president recaptured the Ghormach district of northwestern Faryab province, local officials said on Thursday.

The Taliban militants gained the control Ghormach district on October 11 after a clash with Afghan forces.

According to Pajhwok, the operation under command of first VP was launched today morning and ended with retaking control of Ghormach around 2pm.

The operation was jointly launched by air and ground forces who inflicted heavy casualties on the militants.

The armed Taliban group has not commented regarding the issue so far.
