Afghanistan, UNAMA discussed resolving Afghan refugees problems

Afghanistan and the United Nation officials held talks about reports of Afghans Refugees fighting in Syria and overall Afghan refugees problems.

Afghan National Security Advisor Muhammad Hanif Atmar has met with Filippo Grandi the UN High Comissioner for Refugees on Monday, President Ghani’s office of the National Security Council of Afghanistan announced on Tuesday.

According to the office of the NSA of Afghanistan, UN official has expressed his view and information about the topic and both sides have also discussed the return of Afghan refugees from Pakistan, and the issue of Afghan migrants to Europe.

The formation of a quadrilateral meeting among Iran, Pakistan, European Union and Afghanistan was purposed by UN in order to find permanent solutions for Afghan refugees problems, the statement said.

Afghanistan has welcomed the idea of quadrilateral meeting, the statement added.

Reports of Afghan refugees recruited by Iran to fight in Syria emerged in the international level, but Afghan officials have always emphasized that they do not have documents to prove Iran is deploying its citizens to fight in Syria.

Afghan government says it would form an inter-ministerial commission that would be chaired by the countries Chief Executive Officer, Abdullah Abdullah to address the refugees’ problems.
