At least 60 people die across country due to snowfall and cold weather

According to initial reports from the Provincial Disaster Management Directorate, 60 people died, 34 people were injured, 1,645 houses were destroyed and 177,911 livestock were lost as a result of snowfall, rain and cold weather.

In cooperation with national and international institutions, this department has distributed food, non-food and cash aid to more than 22,415 families from 1st to 23rd of Hoot and the distribution process is ongoing for all the affected people throughout the country.

Meanwhile, as a result of the recent rains and floods in Herat province, 250 residential houses have been destroyed and thousands of acres of land and gardens have been damaged, and hundreds of livestock have been killed.

Herat’s Department of Natural Disasters says that survey teams are busy working in the affected areas but details are not yet available.

A number of affected families say that they have not received any help, while they have lost all their possessions in the recent floods.
