China’s president accepts credentials for Afghanistan’s envoy to Beijing

China’s President Xi Jinping on Tuesday accepted credentials of Mawlawi Asadullah, who is known as Bilal Karimi, for the position of Afghanistan’s ambassador to Beijing.

According to a foreign ministry spokesman, Karimi’s credentials were accepted for the post of Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, alongside envoys from 41 countries.

The event was held in the presence of Xi in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing during a special ceremony.

Accepting Karimi’s credentials, Xi welcomed him as Afghanistan’s Ambassador to China and wished him success in his tenure.

During the ceremony, Karimi also met with the Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

FM Wang Yi congratulated Karimi for presenting his credentials to the President of China.

Karimi took charge of the IEA Embassy in Beijing in December 2023.
