Corruption main reason for substandard buildings in Kabul

Minister of Urban Development was summoned to the Senate House due to substandard buildings in capital and lack of regular urban master plans on Tuesday.

The Afghan Senators declared that most of the buildings are substandard and were constructed by powerful in the capital, Kabul and the existence of corruption causes many government mini-towns do not distribute to the needy people.

They stressed that the ministry of urban development is obliged to take practical steps for solving these challenges.

“Unfortunately, master plans are not considered in construction of buildings in Kabul,” Senator Gul Ahmad Azami said.

In the meantime, minister of urban development said that practical steps have been taken for preventing corruption and construction of buildings.

“We have began our efforts with action not just with slogans; for example: We have introduced five administrator of this ministry to the judicial institutions. Unfortunately, lack of urban development law has caused the master plan not implemented by standard,” Sayed Saadat Mansour Naderi, minister of urban development said.

This comes as that the Afghan senators are said to believe that the government failed to prevent construction of arbitrary buildings in Kabul.
