Ryan Crocker, the former ambassador of the United States to Afghanistan and Pakistan, has said that the upcoming international meeting on Afghanistan in Doha will not give legitimacy to the government of the Islamic Emirate.

In an interview with Voice of America, Crocker said that the United Nations, as the host of the meeting, should make it clear that the Islamic Emirate does not deserve to be recognized and should not be accepted as a legitimate government.

He has stated that the Biden government has forgotten Afghanistan and does not care about the issue of bans on work and education of women and girls.

He has claimed that the Islamic Emirate has not changed intellectually and politically from its previous rule, that they have maintained their relations with the Al-Qaeda and have become a threat to the people of Afghanistan, the region and the world.

Crocker added that the United States needs to continue its diplomatic efforts in the region and prevent threats.

This comes as the Islamic Emirate has repeatedly emphasized that it does not allow Afghanistan’s soil to be used against the security of other countries.

The two-day meeting of the special representatives of countries for Afghanistan will begin next Sunday in Doha.
