The European Union office in Kabul has called Pakistan’s decision to forcibly deport Afghan refugees a “clear injustice”.

In a meeting in Torkham with the acting minister of refugees and repatriation Khalil Rahman Haqqani, the European Union’s Chargé d’affaires Rafaela Yudiche said that the recent decision of the Pakistani government towards refugees is a “great and obvious injustice” and that they continue to support the returnees.

“I closely monitored and investigated the situation of deported immigrants and I am bringing their voice to the world to get more assistance for them. The recent decision of the Pakistani government towards the immigrants was a big and clear injustice, and we continue to support the returnees,” said Yudiche.

Meanwhile, Khalil Rahman Haqqani said in this meeting that the problems of the migrants increase in winter and that basic assistance should be given in the construction of shelters and permanent camps.

He added that they need more humanitarian aid because it is impossible to transfer the returnees to several provinces and it is necessary to pay more attention to the unofficial routes through which the migrants return in addition to the official border gates.

Some returning refugees have also said that currently, Pakistan is forcing Afghans to return by torturing and detaining them.
