Acting minister of commerce and industry met with representatives of various departments on Thursday to discuss the construction of new facilities at Torkham border crossing.

Nooruddin Azizi emphasized the need to build facilities that will ease traffic through the border crossing with Pakistan.

A plan was presented and examined by officials at the meeting.

It was decided that the project should start as soon as possible; that an action plan should be drawn up; officials from other departments need to be included in future meetings; and that a technical team comprising officials at Thursday’s meeting should visit Spin Boldak crossing and draw up similar plans for that border crossing.

This comes on the back of an order by the IEA’s supreme leader to resolve problems of traders using Torkham and Spin Boldak crossings.
