Finalization of National Development Strategy is top priority: Ministry of Economy

The ministry has recently registered 159 domestic and 14 foreign NGOs and renewed the licenses of 315 domestic and 60 foreign NGOs.

The Ministry of Economy on Thursday announced that finalizing Afghanistan’s national development strategy is one of its top priorities this year.

Abdul Latif Nazari, the deputy minister of economy, said that analyzing agriculture, rural development, health, education, governance, security, housing, ring roads and mines and foreign trade is also a priority of the ministry.

According to ministry officials, there are currently 2,199 NGOs operating in the country, of which 278 are foreign.

The ministry has recently registered 159 domestic and 14 foreign NGOs and renewed the licenses of 315 domestic and 60 foreign NGOs.

Officials say 200,000 people have been employed in Afghanistan in the past year.

According to them, the Ministry of Economy has granted customs exemptions to 1,047 domestic and foreign NGOs. The customs exemption of these institutions amounted to $24 million.
