Group of 150 arrested suspects released in Parwan
A group of 150 suspects who were detained in Salang highway of Parwan province have been released, Parwan governor said.
Parwan governor, Muhammad Asem Asem says of the 150 suspects, 14 of them have criminal cases and were arrested, the remaining released.
“After serious investigation among 150 individuals, 14 of them arrested and the rest of them released,” Muhammad Asem Asem, Parwan governor said.
But the Ministry of Interior has a different view on this issue, saying investigation are underway about the arrested suspects.
“Serious investigation are underway and we will not take the issue simple,” Sidiq Sidiqi, spokesman of interior ministry said.
In the meantime, Parwan Provincial Council accuses the central government of negligence over investigation on this issue; stressing the central government has cooperated in their release.
“Circles in the government and government negligence have caused these suspects who truly cooperated with terrorist to be released,” Ghulam Bahawuddin Jilani, chairman of Parwan provincial council said.
Meanwhile, officials in women affairs department of Parwan expressed deep concern over the exchange of girls culture in the province.
Officials say they have recorded five cases about this bad culture in the province.
Afghanistan has many traditions that allow families to marry their daughters at young ages without their consent.
In Afghanistan, according to United Nations and UNICEF statistics, 57 percent of Afghan brides are under the age of sixteen, and the mortality rate for women dying in childbirth is very high: 18 percent.
