Health teams sent to flood affected areas in Afghanistan with the help of UN
The United Nations Population Fund have announced the provision of emergency medical services to women and girls affected by floods.
The organization said in a statement that with their help, 216 mobile medical teams are active and provide services for women in the maternity and mental health departments in rural areas and areas where access is difficult.
The United Nations Population Fund has said that in Baghlan Province, where the recent floods caused widespread destruction, four medical service teams are currently active and each team includes a doctor, a nurse, a midwife, a vaccinator and a medical specialist.
At the same time, the office of the International Committee of the Red Cross in Afghanistan said in a post on X that it has provided emergency medical and shelter services to the flood victims in Baghlan together with the Afghan Ministry of Health.
The ICRC said thousands of families in the province are in desperate need of assistance.
