Afghanistan’s Minister of Public Health, Noor Jalal Jalali, met on Wednesday with Japan’s Ambassador to Kabul, Kenichi Masamoto, to discuss ongoing cooperation in the health sector through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
Their talks focused on establishing radiology centers at the Afghan-Japan and Antani Specialty Hospitals, strengthening the capacity of health workers, treating drug addiction, and controlling both communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Jalali thanked Japan for its vital support and called for expanded collaboration in specialized areas, while Masamoto reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to continued partnership with Afghanistan’s Health Ministry.
According to a statement from the ministry, Jalali described Japan’s assistance as essential to improving healthcare services in the country. He emphasized the need to enhance prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of non-communicable diseases, alongside efforts to combat infectious illnesses.
Masamoto praised the cooperation between the two countries and assured that Japan would continue to provide comprehensive support to Afghanistan’s health sector. “We are committed to continuing our cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health,” he said, underscoring Japan’s long-standing partnership in strengthening Afghanistan’s healthcare system.
