MoPW Spends 30 % Development Budget of Current Fiscal-Year

Afghanistan Ministry of Public Works (MoPW) has spent nearly 30 percent of its annual development budget in the current fiscal year, the minister said.

Minister of Public Works declares that the existence challenges have caused the development budget to not spend as needed.

“We have spent 30 percent of the development budget until a week ago,” said Mahmud Baligh, minister of MoPW.

Meanwhile, members of Parliament’s Leadership Board say ministers who fail to spend more than 50 percent of their budget will be faced serious unprecedented deal.

“We have suggested this issue to the responsible commissions and this year’s accountability will be serious,” said Erfanullah Erfan, Parliament secretary.

However, the low spend of budgets by ministries would make president face a difficult test against residence.

“We will seriously deal with those who failed to spend budgets,” said Shah Hussain Murtazawi, President’s deputy spokesman.

According to statistics, the budget for 1395 fiscal year is around 461 billion Afghanis which 283.3 billion of allocates to the ordinary budget and 175.5 billion to the development budget.
