Amir Khan Muttaqi, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, said Wednesday there are still elements trying to undermine achievements made by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA).

Speaking at an event at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he said: “Recently, you have witnessed baseless accusations from the West. We ask them, based on which mechanism do you make these accusations and [get your] information?”

Muttaqi said the West gathers its intelligence on Afghanistan from sources within biased circles and from “enemies of the people”.

He said the West then takes the information and publicizes it, which he stated was a “big injustice”.

He also said the West claims there are terrorist sanctuaries in Afghanistan. He said if this was the case then why were Afghans in the country and embassies and diplomats in Afghanistan unable to “see these” sanctuaries.

Muttaqi asked the West “if you are really worried about all this, then come and open your embassies and dare to come forward diplomatically and observe everything closely.”

According to him, there are no problems in relations with many countries, with which the IEA has forged ties.
