1006 Schools Remain Closed in Entire Afghanistan: Balkhi
Meanwhile Minister of Education and Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Afghanistan have signed a memorandum of Understanding on promoting Arabic language in Afghanistan education curriculum.
Based on the memorandum of understanding $4,4 million will be provided for the teachers to be hired and students to learn Arabic language in Afghanistan.
Minister of Education Mohammad Hanif Balkhi said, “1006 schools remain closed at the entire country, 23 schools were reopened by the mediation of scholars and efforts are underway to reopen the remaining of the schools in Afghanistan.”
Saudi Arabia Ambassador to Afghanistan Musafar bin Abdul Rahman al-Ghasib said, “ Saudi Arabia will remain committed to its support for Afghanistan, insisting 2016 has been a fruitful year for strengthening of the mutual ties between Afghanistan- Saudi Arabia.”
Earlier schools were used as safe shelters by both Afghan security forces and insurgents across the country, though schools, mosques and civil accommodations were addressed to be safe from outsider attacks.
