25 $ Million Contract on Rain fed crops signed in Kabul

Officials in Ministry of Agriculture and Live stock with the cooperation of Australia to increase wheat crops in those provinces where the rain fed are the good alternatives for the farmers in Afghanistan.

Minister of Agriculture and live stock Asadullah Zameer has signed a 25 $ million contract with Australian Ambassador on increasing rain fed crops in 5 provinces, saying this is a good alternative for those areas where drought always hit them.”

Minister of Agriculture and live stock Asadullah Zameer said,” Climate is changing, as we witnessed there was no rain fall this year, therefore we will face drought in some parts of the country.”

Australia Ambassador in Kabul Anderson said,” 25 $ million contract was signed for five years to tackle drought issue, Afghanistan is one of the countries where Australia has always wanted to support and help on Agriculture sector.”

Based on the information of Ministry of Agriculture and live stock there are 4 million acres of lands in Afghanistan is suitable for rain fed crops or dry land farming to be planted.
