50 Militants Killed in Afghan Southern Nesh District

Afghan forces have killed 50 militants in southern Kandahar province of Afghanistan, an Afghan army statement read on Saturday.

According to a statement released by 205th Attal Corps, the Afghan army special forces have killed 50 Taliban militants during a special operation under the name of “Shafaq 2” in Nesh district of Kandahar on Friday.

The statement added, heavy weaponry were also used during the clashes.

Taliban has not commented about the report so far.

“Shafaq 2” is a counter-insurgency operation aimed to eliminate the safe heavens and logistic ways of terrorists. Officials say during the winter, the operation will be conducted in all provinces being threatened by the anti-government elements.

Kandahar is among the volatile provinces in south of Afghanistan where the Taliban groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and usually carry out attacks against the Afghan forces.
