Afghanistan has secured a place in the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) presidency rotation, marking a significant step toward a greater role for the country in the leadership of Asian cricket.

The decision was made at the ACC’s recent Annual General Meeting following a proposal by Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mirwais Ashraf.

The ACC’s member boards backed Afghanistan’s inclusion in the council’s leadership framework and also supported considering Afghanistan as a host for future ACC tournaments and events.

The Afghanistan Cricket Board said the decision reflects the growing recognition, confidence and standing of Afghan cricket across Asia.

The new position is expected to give Afghanistan a stronger voice in the leadership and decision-making of Asian cricket, while creating greater opportunities for the country to host major continental tournaments.

The ACB welcomed the decision and thanked the Asian Cricket Council and its member boards for their confidence and support.

The board said it would continue working with its Asian counterparts to contribute to the growth, development and advancement of cricket across the continent.

The schedule for the upcoming three-match T20I series between Afghanistan and India could be changed, with discussions reportedly underway between the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

According to a report published by Outlook India, Afghanistan has proposed bringing the series forward by a few days.

Under the proposed schedule, the three matches would be played on September 11, 13 and 14, instead of the originally scheduled September 13, 15 and 17.

All three matches are set to be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The proposed September 14 match would coincide with Ganesh Chaturthi, one of India’s major religious festivals. The possibility of holding a match on the festival day is reportedly being considered because of the potential to attract larger television audiences and crowds.

Indian media outlets have reported that the ACB is understood to have approached the BCCI after considering requests from stakeholders as well as India’s cultural calendar around the original match dates.

However, no final decision has been made and the revised schedule still requires approval from both cricket boards.

Until an agreement is reached, the original September 13, 15 and 17 dates remain the official schedule.

The series will be an important milestone in Afghanistan’s cricketing relationship with India.

It will mark the first bilateral series in which Afghanistan is officially the host against India, although all three matches will be played in New Delhi.

Afghanistan has increasingly used India as a venue for international cricket, and the upcoming series will add another chapter to the growing cricketing ties between the two countries.

If the proposed changes are approved, the three-match series will be played on September 11, 13 and 14, making it a tightly packed contest in New Delhi.

For now, however, fans will have to wait for official confirmation from the ACB and BCCI.

Abaseen Defenders were crowned champions of the Khan Hospital Kabul Premier League Season 4 after a commanding 63-run victory over Kabul Zalmi in the final at Ayobi Cricket Stadium in Kabul on Friday.

After winning the toss, Abaseen Defenders opted to bat first and posted a formidable 213 for seven in their 20 overs, setting Kabul Zalmi a target of 214 runs.

Kabul Zalmi struggled in the chase and were bowled out for 150 in 17.2 overs, handing Abaseen Defenders a comprehensive 63-run victory and the championship trophy.

The fourth season of the Khan Hospital Kabul Premier League began on August 10 at Ayobi Cricket Stadium in Kabul and concluded on August 21 with Abaseen Defenders lifting the title.

Six teams—Pamir Stars, Shamshad Eagles, Kabul Zalmi, Spin Ghar Warriors, Abaseen Defenders and Band-e-Amir—competed for the championship in this season.

The tournament provided a valuable platform for Afghan domestic cricketers to compete at a higher level, gain experience and showcase their skills.
