Acting presidents, vice presidents of AISA suspended

President Ashraf Ghani has suspended the acting President and Vice Presidents of the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) in a meeting that was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Justice, AISA and a number of economic and legal experts.

According to a statement released by theOffice of President, a commission was assigned to look into corruption claims at AISA.

The officials suspended by President Ghani included Ahmadshah Hemat, Urban Development Director, Gul Rahim Ziarmal, Plan and Policy Director, Mohammad Aminullah Qani, Head of Apartments Cohesion, Mohammad Aminullah Amin, Director of Property and Accommodation and Ahmad Nawaz Bakhtyar, Director of Housing Enterprise, Director Finance Apartments Cohesion Syed Aman Sadat.

The statement said that Ghani directed Ministers not to influence or interfere in the recruitment process of competitive positions.

He asked the Ministry of Commerce and Industries to introduce candidates for the presidency of AISA on a merit basis.

Moreover, the President tasked the Justice Minister to prepare a thorough plan to determine the legal status of AISA.

President Ghani has also said to consider entry of armed individuals in local offices unacceptable and ordered investigation on issue and prosecution of those who are responsible.
