Afghan forces recaptured Khanshin district in Helmand

Afghan security forces retake control of Khanshin district in southern Helmand province of Afghanistan, Sediq Sediqi Ministry of Interior (MoI) spokesman said on Sunday.

Sediqi added the district has been fully cleared of militants during operations conducted jointly by Afghan army and police forces.

Taliban militants took the control of the district after they launched coordinated attacks nearly about two weeks ago.

Taliban group has not made a comment yet.

Helmand is among the volatile provinces in southern Afghanistan where the armed-Taliban groups are actively operating in a number of its districts and regularly performs coordinated attacks which cause heavy casualties to Afghan civilian and military forces.
