Afghan women should have hope for the future: French president

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Afghan women and girls are paying the price every day for the United States’ decision to withdraw from Afghanistan.
Macron, however, told RFE/RL that the Afghan people are resilient and women and girls should have hope for the future.
“We did our best to have refugees and protect people after this decision and the consequences on Afghanistan, and I know how much ladies and girls are affected on daily basis by what is decided, and I know how much resilient your people are. And I just want to convey this message to the girls and women that hope is in front of them,” Macron said.
Western countries have repeatedly criticized the Islamic Emirate for imposing restrictions on the education and work of women and girls in Afghanistan.
The Islamic Emirate, however, has said that this is an internal matter of Afghanistan and countries should not interfere in it.
The IEA has also repeatedly stated that women’s and girl’s rights are upheld in Afghanistan in accordance with Sharia law.
