Afghanistan’s Hajj ministry confirms death of 27 pilgrims in Mecca and Medina
He said that a total of 30,000 pilgrims had been transported to Saudi Arabia in 94 flights and the last batch returned to the country on Monday.
A total of 27 Afghan pilgrims who traveled to Saudi Arabia for hajj this year died in Mecca and Medina, Acting Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs Noor Mohammad Saqib said on Tuesday.
Speaking at an event to mark the end of Hajj for this year, Saqib explained that two people died in a traffic accident, one died from complications linked to high blood pressure, one died from heart disease, one died from complications related to diabetes, one died from heat exhaustion and 21 others died of natural causes.
He said that a total of 30,000 pilgrims had been transported to Saudi Arabia in 94 flights and the last batch returned to the country on Monday.
Saqib emphasized that the place of residence of the pilgrims was near the holy mosques in Mecca and Medina and they were provided with proper and healthy meals three times a day. He added that besides transportation services, health services were also available for pilgrims.
