At least two people were killed and 15 others were injured after the explosion of a bomb in Andkhoi district of Faryab province in north of Afghanistan.

Sultan Sanjar, Andkhoi district governor told Monday to Ariana News,” the explosion occurred around 11:00 am this morning, it was placed in a Rickshaw motor and was detonated in Balahesar road”.

Preliminary reports suggest that at least two people were killed and 15 others including two children were injured who were all taken to the closest hospital for medical care.

According to Mr. Sanjar the target of the explosion was Mohammad Qul known as Gul Haji who was a military commander of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan (Jumbishi Mili Islami Afghanistan) and was currently leading an anti-Taliban movement in his province.

He added, Gul Haji is slightly injured, but most of the causalities are civilians.

This comes as Taliban seized control of Ghormach, a strategic district in Faryab province after three days of heavy clashes on Saturday mid-night.
