Govt institutions, powerful default on electricity bills
A number of government agencies and individuals have not paid almost 2 billion Afghanis of their electricity bills from the past year, Afghanistan power department said.
The power department refused to name specified people but the ministry of interior, health, communication, culture are those ministries among the defaulters.
Offiicals in power department noted that the government institutions defaulters are payable around 738 million Afghanis.
“We do not allow anyone to not pay the money and all of them should clear their accounts,” Mirwais Alemi, deputy economic of power department said.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan general attorney has also declared its vision about the defaulters.
“No one can squandered the public money, all of the defaulters should clear their accounts, otherwise they will face judgments and prosecution,” Basir Azizi, spokesman of general attorney said.
Officials in the power department said they have aim to collect 16 billion Afghanis from the money of electricity; but if people and government agencies avoid paying their bills, the aim would also face challenges.
