Holding upcoming elections ‘impossible’: Electoral Observing Institutions
Afghanistan Electoral Observing Institutions have said that holding the upcoming election in the current year is impossible because the National Unity Government (NUG) has lost its opportunities.
The electoral observing institutions believe that it is better the upcoming elections hold in the next year.
“Holding the elections in the current year is impossible in terms of security, technical and budgetary. It is better that the elections to be held next year with the electoral reforms,” said Naeem Ayoub Zada.
But the first deputy speaker of Senate says the joint committee of Senate and the lower house will begin work on investigating president’s decree about the electoral reforms and take the final decision.
“The committee will be created after Eid, even both houses go for holidays the committee will keep working,” said Farhad Sakhi, the first deputy speaker of Senate House.
However, the National Unity Government leaders have repeatedly assured of brining electoral reforms and holding the election, but no practical steps have been taken so far.
