ISIS not repress by Afghan forces in Nangarhar: MP Qadir
First deputy speaker of Parliament Haji Zahir Qadir claims that The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group are not repressed by Afghan security forces and the group is equipping with heavy weapons in the province.
The lawmaker emphasizes that the Daesh group is an alternative to Taliban and peace with Taliban would be meaningless.
Presence and movements of Daesh group in most parts of the country, particularly Nangarhar have raised concerns of people.
Inhabitants of Nangarhar province – who have escaped the area – say militants associated with Daesh are having a devastating effect on the lives of the locals which has led hundreds of people to flee the area.
“Daesh project is an alternative to Taliban. What peace means? The government only targets Taliban while there are many terrorist groups activating in Nangarhar,” said Zahir Qadir, first deputy speaker of Wolesi Jirga.
Qadir has also claimed that suspected helicopters land in districts of Nangarhar that should be tracked by Afghan security forces.
He showed documents to Parliament that indicated a letter from the office of chief of staff to 201 battalion corps of the province.
“Now, 90 percent of the members of Lashkar-e Tehrik-e Islam who are related to Lashkar-e Mangal Bagh joined Daesh group in Nazian and Achin districts of Nangarhar,” added Zahir Qadir.
But the 201 battalion corps of Silab in Nangarhar denies Qadir’s statements and noted that no written has been submitted to this battalion on that date.
“Mr. Qadir said such statements because he does not have enough information and rejects our attacks on insurgents,” said spokesman of 201 battalion corps of Silab.
A number of other Parliament members also called for serious fight in eradication of Daesh group.
Nangarhar has been witnessing a rise in the presence of Daesh terrorists in at least seven of its districts in recent months.
