Man burns pregnant wife to death in Ghor

Afghan man scalded his pregnant wife with petrol in Saghar district of Ghor province five days ago.

The 13 –year old girl, named Zahra was married at the age of 11 and five days after the husband sets wife on fire, she died in Istiqlal hospital of the capital, Kabul.

The history of Zahra starts when her mother became paralyzed and her father married for the second time.

Zahra’s father says that the family of his second wife force them to marry Zahra.

The family of Zahra claims that their daughter has been beaten since the beginning of her marriage; even, she was once injured by a knife.

Muhammad Azim, father of Zahra noted that he has repeatedly refer to the provincial council and police of Ghor province but never received any response.

According to the father, Zahra’s only desire was to be a doctor or a police officer in the future but at the grade sixth she got married and burned to death with all of her dreams.

Reports suggest that Zahra’s husband has been escaped and the police arrested her father-in-law and mother-in law.

This comes as a number of cases involving brutal murder of the women have been reported in various provinces during the recent months.
